How to Fix Error Code 39
If your DVD/CD Rom/RW drive is missing and not visible in MY Computer section and has an yellow exclamation mark in near to the DVD/CD device icon in the device manager, then you have an Error code 39!
“Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)”
Steps to fixing error code 39:
- Using Device manager: Go to device manager: My computer > hardware tab > Device manager. Find the DVD/CD device with yellow exclamation. Right click, update device drive and reboot the pc.
- Using Registry Editor: Go to Start menu > Type Run > Enter REGEDIT. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
Now Delete the following entries:1. LowerFilters
2. LowerFilters.bak
3. UpperFilters
4.UpperFilters.bak
Reboot and PC now!
Your DVD/CD device will be now visible and the yellow exclamation mark have gone now, else repeat the above steps.
Preventing it further:
To prevent the further occurrences of any system error like error code 39 or 10 or anything. You need to the take the following precautions:
- Update and schedule antivirus and antispyware check up periodically atleast once a week.
- Invest in registry cleaner software and run it periodically!
- Investing in a Firewall if you haven’t already.
- Turn Windows auto update on, so that you have the latest security patch.
- Use Firefox browser, as it helps you want against the attacking websites.
- Use Gmail for email as it helps you have the secured emailing experience.
